Differentiate between base and derived physical quantities. list the seven units of System International (SI) alongwith their symbols and physical quantities (standard definitions of SI units are not required). Interconvert the prefixes and their symbols to indicate multiples and sub-multiples for both base and derived units. Write the answer in scientific notation in measurements and calculations. Describe the working of Vernier Callipers and screw gauge for measuring length. Identify and explain the limitations of measuring instruments such as metre rule, Vernier Callipers and screw gauge. Describe the need using significant figures for recording and stating results in the laboratory.

    Problem: Wrong answer given in notes.
    Correct Answer:  It is the measurement or value that an instrument shows when it should be showing zero.
  • Short Question 1.9
    Problem: Wrong answer given in notes.
    Correct Answer: By knowing the zero error, necessary correction can be made to find correct measurement. Otherwise our reading will be incorrect.
  • Numerical 1.7
    Problem : Wrong values of pitch of the screw guage(0.1mm) and number of division(100).
    Correction:  The vale of pitch of the screw should be 0.5mm and number of divisions should be 50 according to the question. There is no change in answer, it remains the same.

Pak-Arab Refinery (PARCO) is an oil refinery located in Mehmood Kot in Multan District, Punjab, Pakistan. Pak Arab oil refinary is locaten in Mehmood kot in district Muzaffargarh. PAK ARAB REFINERY LTD (PARCO) is a Joint Venture between Government of Pakistan and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, incorporated as a public limited company in 1974. 60% of the share holding is by the Government of Pakistan and 40% by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through its Abu Dhabi Petroleum Investment Company(ADPI), a subsidiary group of International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).

National Refinery Limited

National Refinery Limited ( NRL ) was incorporated on August 19, 1963 as a public limited company. Government of Pakistan took over the management of NRL under the Economic Reforms Order, 1972 under the Ministry of Production, which was exercising control through its shareholding in State Petroleum Refining and Petrochemical Corporation (PERAC). The Government of Pakistan had decided to place the National Refinery Limited under the administrative control of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources in November 1998
The refinery complex of the Company comprises of three refineries, consisting of two lube refineries and one fuel refinery. First Lube Refinery commissioned in 1966 with designed capacity of 539,700 tons per annum of Crude Processing and 76,200 tones per annum of Lube Base Oils. Second Lube Refinery commissioned in 1985 with designed capacity of 100,000 tons per annum of Lube Base Oils.
