Title: The Unforgettable Experience of My Life

The most unforgettable experience stays fresh in my memory all the time. I will remember the experience of being lost at night all my life. It was my summer vacations and I was spending my summer vacation at the house of my cousin which was in the village. Beside the village there was a forest. My other cousins are also come with me to spend their summer vacations.

It was dark and a little bit cold night. One of my cousin suggested that we go outside to watch the stars. We started from the fields, each with a torch in hand. At first we just wanted to go around and appreciated the beautiful sky decorated by many stars. But later we decide to do go further. All we thought about was walking and talking. We ignored the most important thing — a big forest was beyond the village. It was unfortunate that we went into the forest and got lost. When we found we were lost, it was too late to find the original way back to the village. I grasped my cousin’s hand firmly. The cold and strong wind blew against my face all the time. It whispers through the trees. What’s more, the fog quickly became thick. Terrible fear came to my mind and made me tremble out of my control.

I was scared to death. The only idea in my brain was that it was the end of my life. It was impossible for me to get out of the forest. Even though my cousins tried to convince me that nothing bad would happen to us and we were safe and sound, I still feared that we would come to a messy end. It was hard to find the way clear because of the dense fog. It made us lose the sense of direction totally. We didn’t know which way to go next. Suddenly, a man with a torch stood in front of us. At first, it frightened us stiff. We dared not open our eyes until he came to pat us on our shoulders and told us that if we were lost, he would help us to find the way back. At that moment, I was relieved because I knew I wouldn’t stay in the forest forever. This kind man led us out. It was he who ended this terrible experience of getting lost. It was really an unforgettable experience in my life. I will not forget such a special experience.

Essay: The Funniest Incident

One Sunday morning, I received an invitation from a friend of mine. I had come back from U.K to my native place. So, he invited me to lunch. I got up early in the morning and started getting ready. My sister gave me a cup of tea early in the morning. Then I took my bath and got ready. My sister then again asked me to take some snacks and tea but I refused to take it as I was more interested in reaching my friend’s house. He insisted upon me to’ take a heavy breakfast but I ignored his request. I went out of my house and stood at the bus-stop. I boarded the bus. Meanwhile the conductor came and asked me to buy the ticket. I asked him to give me a ticket for Model town. The conductor frowned upon me saying. “It is going in the reverse direction; you get down at the next stop and catch another bus”. I was baffled for some time. Then I alighted from the bus and again waited for the bus going to the Hawk town.

I got the bus and reached 20, Hawk town. But surprisingly when I reached his house, I found the door locked. I was puzzled and thought whether I had come to the right place. But a little later, as I was gazing and pondering, a neighbor of my friend came and asked me. For what are you standing here? Do you want to meet some one?” I replied Yes, I want to see Mr. Johnson here. He immediately replied, “But he has living changed his house last Wednesday and has gone to White Linz Town” got his address from his neighbor.
Frustrated, I came back to the bus stop. I was feeling hungry. Soon it started drizzling. I was now in a fix as to what to do and, what not. My confusion became all the more confounded by the torrential rains. I had refused to take morning breakfast in the hope that I would take it at my friends house. At this stage my anger was mounting. I was cursing myself as well as my fate. But soon the anger got the better of myself. I made up my mind to meet John.

I made my journey to Linz Town and reached his home rang the door bell Mike, a tiny tot ( John’s youngest brother) came out and greeted me with a “Hello, uncle.” The moment I entered the thawing room, I saw the parents of John sitting on the sofa. They offered me a seat and sat quite modestly’. As I was about to talk about invitation send to me by john, Dolly (John’s sister) came with tea. She was looking like a pretty and vivacious damsel. Now the elderly mother of John began to talk very politely. “Look son, the invitation to tea was a joke, as you know today is First April Fool’s Day. But you are fortunate that your proposal of marriage has been accepted by all the members of our family. “I was thrilled to hear these words coming from the august lip of Dolly’s mother. My joy knew no bounds. The facial expressions of Dolly were quite attractive. Her lent looks pleased me as she was making silent expressions of love. We had the tea to our heart’s content. I rushed from their house in order to convey this happy news to my parents. This day, indeed, was the funniest and happiest day of my life.

Title : Science, the Cause of Human Suffering

Battlefield. Science was originally to conquer and harness the force of Nature for the good of man. It was considered to be the harbinger of all comfort, progress and prosperity. Today it is looked upon by some as the chief cause of our suffering. They have reasons to conclude that all is not well with science and its application. Pure science is a search for truth and as such no fault finding is possible with it. The position, however is different in regard to  the application of science the field of practical activity. History shows that the application of science has not always been governed by the principle of justice. Albert Einstein once said “Why does this magnificent applied science which saves work and makes life easier bring us so little happiness?” The simple answer runs; Because we have not yet learned to make sensible use of it.

The ’19th century witnessed the invention of steam locomotives. oil, engines and other machines, Consequently heavy industries of iron, coal and cloth came to set up. Production of things increased rapidly and their qualities improved a great deal. It was claimed that the physical labour was taken off the shoulders of man and shifted to machines.

But industrialism brought new troubles. It dealt a death-blow to cottage industry and the result was a large scale unemployment. It brought int.: being the tyranny of capital over labour. The rich gained much and the poor were exploited Strikes and lockouts became the order of the day. Application of machinery to the service of man resulted in more evil, than good. Even today, the condition are no better. There is discontentment and friction Prices are rising high and the buying power is lowering. There is plenty of misery, poverty starvation in the modern world. Search for raw, material and new markets became a cause of war.

The application of science in the social sphere also produced highly questionable results. The introduction of machinery gave a new a tempo to man’s life and activity. He became materialistic. Today, moral and ethical values of life are considered to be things of the past. The sanctity of joint family has been violated. Art and literature has come under the influence of mechanization. People have come to know new medicines and better surgical aid, but all that has not promoted a better standard of health. More food is grown but all is stored. Poverty and hunger have prevailed. Ignorance and disease still exist millions of dollars are spent on travel to the moon. Hurry and worry are eating away the modem man. Corruption and adulteration are the gifts of science. Life on the whole has become highly artificial

Science has done the greatest disservice to mankind in the field of armament. The invention of gun powder was hailed as a great achievement. But with the passage of time, it was perfected in hundred new weapons. Today artillery gunfire, shells and bombs have become a hellish (din) terror to every body. Atom bomb, Hydrogen bomb, Cobalt and Nitrogen bombs and various gases are very destructive powers:Inter continental missiles are weapons of devastation in the event of war. The third world war is sure to wipe off towns, countries and continents.

So modern man is more worried, more unhappy and poorer than his fellows in the past. New life is a drudgery for him and it i ill due to the wrong use of science.

Title: Woman’s Place in Our Society

In the near past, women were considered inferior to men. They were debarred from taking part in social life. Their sphere of activities was limited to domestic work. Up To the 19th century it was believed that women were not allowed to.take part in political and social life and administration. Rousseau, the French philosopher, who never married, once said: “The dignity of woman consists-in being unknown to world, her glory is the esteem of her husband; her pleasure the happiness of her family.” But time created new situations and old outlook underwent a change.

Quite recently, women have come to take more and more prominent part in many spheres of life. In some respects, they have excelled men. In sports, intellectual and artistic pursuits, in office and industry, they have set a new record of honesty and efficiency. They have succeeded marvellously as teachers and nurses. Goldsmith the famous poet and writer, made a complaint two centuries ago: “Women famed for their valour, their skill in politics or thek learning have left the duties of their own sex, in order to invade the privilege of ours.” This is what the women are doing today.

There is practically no field where women are not competing with men. In professions, outdoor life and law, they claim equality with men. In business, trade, industry, in the learned professions, in politics, administration, scientific researches, literary and artistic activities, “Eve” is making herself felt everywhere. They are Police and military officers. They are working as sale-girls, as air-hostesses and as clerks and steno typists. They are turning out men from the posts of personal secretaries. As the days pass we have to get more and More used to the idea of seeing women working side by side men in riding, driving, flying, playing, even fighting. Even in Pakistan we have women athletes, writers, leaders, administrators. They are fastly discarding “Purdah” and taking to active, outdoor life, law has given to woman a status equal to that of man. In nearly every democratic country, women have the right to vote. They are claiming better rights to property.

Many thinkers including most of the Muslims do not like the idea of woman taking an active part in public life and in the professions. They argue that biologically, woman’s function is different from man’s she has to be a mother. Women are not suitable for every job. They are too delicate to perform arduous duties of life. The real greatness of a woman lies in her role as mother. It is rightly said, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” The mother who can bring up right sort of children is really a great benefactor of society, Islamic Society gives a very respectable position to woman. The Holy Prophet has said, “Verily The paradise lies under the feet of your mother.” It is a mother that she can best serve the nation.

But it is clear that women will not return to their homes. The modern woman argues that she can be a good mother and at the same time, a good doctor or writer or administrator. As Susan B. Anthony, a famous – woman worker says, “Modern inventions have banished the spinning wheel and the same law of progress Makes the woman of today a different woman from her grandmother.”

Title: How I Spend My Sunday

I wish every day was a Sunday but alas! the day comes aft waiting for six long days. We praise God who made this especially for the students. I have not to get up at 5 A.M. and g ready for college. My mother knows it and does not touch me before 7 A.M. She is so sweet when she tells me that the breakfast is ready. I leave the bed with a heavy heart and spend maximum time in bathroom. We have formed a small club of cricket players w assemble in the park to play the game. We have devised the wick and ball. We have also settled the boundary of the park as boundary of our ground. Mother sends for me to take lunch and it only when she herself appears at the scene that I go back home. I never miss the lessons on cricket by Zaheer Abbas which are telecast from the Lahore station.

Our teachers load us with heavy home-work. The parents check my school diary and do not allow me to out till I have finished it. I try to dash through it as fast as possible. I never miss the Sun movie on the T.V. It is the best source of enjoyment. Sometime invite my friends to visit my house. We discuss our plans to organ some friendly match with other clubs. We also go to the park to see. Nature bathed in all its beauty. The park of our locality has own frost prize in the annual competition and is one of the best maintained ones.

In the evening, when we sit for supper, the fear of getting up early next morning again grips my mind. I remind my mother to wake up early, so that, I could finish the remaining home-work. Before going to sleep. I bid sad farewell to my dear Sunday and wish to come again as soon as possible in the form of a holiday.

Title: When I was a Small Child

I am the eldest child in my family and was born after seven years of my parent’s marriage. You can very well imagine what a rare gem I am for them. I was fondled lavishly and a single tear from my eye would bring ten from my mother’s eye. When I started walking with the help of baby-walker, my parents held a grand feast. Noises of every type fascinated me. When the Balloon seller passed our lane, I used to run after him. My mother would buy the balloon filled with grains. It made sweet noise when it was jerked about. She also bought beautiful toys which had a whistle fitted underneath. When I pressed the doll, she, would squeak. When I was three years old, my birthday was celebrated with great pomp and show. My parents might have celebrated my first and second birthdays as well, but they have not left any trace in my memory. My relatives had brought beautiful toys which had to be wound up.

When the toy car was left on the floor, it would run for some distance. When the joker was wound up, it would blow a trumpet. It was a strange world when my parents were ready to bring moon from the sky. Once a juggler with two monkeys came to our street. He showed monkey tricks which engaged my attention. The he-monkey fell in love with she-monkey. She refused to marry the male monkey. He-monkey went to his father-in-law’s house wearing a colorful dress. I cannot forget the scene at his in-law’s house. I also liked the tricks shown by the juggler.

I was taken to the school when I was five years old. My parents had carried sweets to be distributed among the students. I was wearing a new dress and my mother had groomed me with great care. Both my parents left me there and walked back home. I shouted and cried but there was no help. My tears could not bring them back. The teacher talked gently and asked other students to make friends with me.

I grew up very fast. My friends grew in number and we started playing pranks with our neighbors. We used to enter any house and press the button of the call-bell. When the owner came out, we used to run away as fast as our legs could carry us. These memories are things of the past and a huge bag of books and heavy home-work is left-behind.

Title: My Last Day At College

In every college there is a tradition that the junior students e a farewell party to the senior outgoing students. In this way in a government College every year the students of XI Class give a farewell party to the XII Class students who are departing for their Board examination. Although parting from one’s college is always sad yet in this manner the last day in the college is made a memorable occasion for the students who are leaving. This day is definitely a sad day for those who are leaving. But at the sametime it is full of hopes, because they are now going to achieve their mission for which they had joined the college years ago.

On this day both the students and the teachers give emotional and touching speeches at the farewell party. The voice of the speakers-is choked. The students ask for forgiveness if they had been rude to their teachers during their stay in the college. The teachers bless them and wish them a good and bright career in the future. It is a day when a relationship which had been established over a period of nearly 2 years is snapped suddenly. The students take away the sweet memories of their college.

Last year I had to appear at the Intermediate Examination in March. Our -Principal gave us preparatory holidays for nearly two weeks in February. He also announced that the farewell function for the outgoing students would be organised on 24th February. So it was my last day at the college where I had studied for nearly 2 years. The function was to be organised by the students of XI Class under the supervision of our Vice-Principal. We reached the college at 10.00 a.m. The function was to start at 10.30 a.m. We had been asked to reach the college half an hour before the actual time.

The students of the Class XI had beautifully decorated the college with buntings and balloons. In the college a small stage had also been erected. On the stage were our honourable Principal, Vice-Principal and other members of the staff. All the students sat on the carpets which were spread on our ground. First of all we assembled in the lawn Of our college for a group photograph. After the photograph was taken we assembled in the Hall.

The Principal of our college presided over the function. The moment our Principal arrived, a student of our class garlanded him After this a few items of cultural program like songs, jokes etc. were arranged. There were certain students both in Class XI and Class XII who gave us good and touching, sprigs. Some students also recited poems and couplets befitting the occasion. The cultural program which was organised for the entertainment of the student and guests was a great success.

After the cultural program was over the monitor of class XI rose and gave a touching farewell speech with the permission of the chair person. After this the monitor of our class also made a brief speech on behalf of the outgoing, students, which was also very moving. After this our respectable teachers by whom we were taught blessed us one by one. They also gave brief speeches.

In the end, our Principal gave us his blessings in an inspiring and memorable speech. He exhorted us to work hard in life and dedicate ourselves to the building of our nation. He advised us to lead a disciplined and honest life. He also wished us success in our future career. His speech was very impressive. All the students clapped when he finished his speech. After the end of the Principal’s speech we were served with tea, biscuits, cakes and fruits. It was a fine party which w as liked by every one. The function was adjudged to be the best organised during the last so many years. This was indeed a memorable day in my life. All the outgoing students took leave of their teachers and friends individually. The teachers blessed us by extending their good wishes for our forthcoming examination, this was our last day at the College.
