NTS GAT General Test Guide

NTS (National Testing Service) is an officially body which conduct various aptitude test in Pakistan. NTS is an internationally recognized testing and assessment organization facilitating in producing educated and market competitive human resource. Among various tests GAT Test is one of them. GAT stands for General Aptitude Test. In this article we are letting people know about the GAT Test and providing them guide to prepare for their GAT Test. GAT Test is mainly subdivided into two types namely:

  • GAT General Test
  • GAT Subject Test

Here we discuss only GAT General Test

GAT General Test is mainly required for the admissions in Masters and M.Phil programs of different universities. The requirement of GAT General Test score vary as per Universities rule. Most universities requires GAT Test score while some universities take their own Entry tests for the admissions. Moreover GAT General Test is also required for various HEC Scholarship schemes. So it is important to know about the GAT General Test.

Eligibility for GAT General Test

A candidate appearing for GAT General Test must have minimum of 16 years of Education.

The score GAT Test is only valid for two years for admissions and HEC Scholarship Schemes

GAT Test Roll Number Slip

GAT Roll number slips are issued to the candidates before the test date. If the candidate have not received the roll number slip until two days left for the test, then they can take a print of the roll number slip. Find the details of Roll number slip follow the link below.

 GAT General Test Composition

GAT General Test is a MCQs based test. Basically GAT General Test composed of three types of questions namely

  • English
  • Quantitative
  • Analytical
Now we discuss these three types of questions

English

In this section the questions is all about the English Language. This section contains following types of questions:

  • Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, Analogies, Sentence Completion)
  • Word Choice (with respect to grammar)
  • Word Choice (with respect to vocabulary)
  • Grammar
  • Summary Completion
  • Reading Comprehension

 Quantitative

This section contains following types of questions

  • Basic Algebra
  • Word Problems
  • Arithmetic and Logic
  • Geometry

Analytical Reasoning

Analytical Reasoning Section contains following types of questions

  • Collecting given information
  • Conclusion; after gathering given information
  • Inference from the given information and conclusion

GAT General Test Paper Distribution

GAT General Test is divided into three categories (GAT A, GAT B, GAT C). Students who had studied Business Education or Engineering and Technology Falls in category GAT-A. Students who had studied Arts & Humanities and Social Science subjects falls in category GAT-B. Students who had studied the Agriculture & Veterinary Sciences, Biological & Medical Sciences and Physical Sciences subjects falls in category GAT-C.

GAT General Test of all categories contains 100 questions and 120 minutes time is given to complete the test. The difference between papers of these three categories is the difference in percentage composition of English, Quantitative and Analytical Reasoning questions.

 GAT General Test Day Tips

  1. Be on time.
  2. While filling the circles on the answer sheet properly fill the circles otherwise it may not be marked. Don’t fill more than one answers.
  3. Only use Black or Blue Ball Pen to fill/shade the circles.
  4. Every candidate is required to sign the attendance sheet, brought to her/him by the invigilators. The Roll No. Slips will also be collected by the same staff after the attendance is completed.
  5. The questions booklet will be taken back after the test is over so do not attempt to tear or remove any page from question booklet. No one is allowed to keep any part of it.
  6. Do not bring any other stationary item including rough/extra sheets as two blank sheets for rough work are placed inside the Question booklet.
  7. Do not bring calculators, mobile phones and wrist watches with calculator in the test center.

    It depends on how many years of Education you have completed, If you have completed 18 years of Education then you are eligible for GAT Subject Test; while if you have completed your 16 years of education then you are eligible for GAT General Test.

    GAT Test Guide by Dogar Sons is the Book recommended by NTS for the preparation of GAT Test, but this book is not available to download from internet so you have to buy t from book centre.

    There are two sections of GAT Subject test

      General Section = 30% of the Total Test
      Subject Section = 70% of the Total Test

    For Preparation of General Section there is a book “GAT User Guide by Dogar sons Publishers” and for the preparation of GAT Subject section consults your own books.

    The general section contains
    English (Verbal) = 15%
    Analytical Reasoning = 15%

    The Subject Section of Management sciences contains

    Finance 10%
    Accounting 10%
    Marketing 15%
    Management 15%
    Business Maths 10%
    Business Statistic 10%
    HRM 10%
