Students want to apply in the Engineering faculty in different universities of Pakistan will apply for the Entry Test 2011 which is conducted by UET(University of Engineering and Technology) . UET has announced the online application Procedure for the Entry Test 2011. Below given is the whole procedure of Applying for the Entry test 2011

ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Register yourself using CNIC number and a password of your choice. In case of age less than 18 years, CNIC number can be obtained from B-FORM. During registration process, a Tracking No. will be automatically generated on the
page.
2. Remember your password which will be used for future logins.
3. Select your Intermediate subject combination carefully (as per your Intermediate/A-Level Certificate). All DAE/BTech
candidates should only choose subject combination (Physics, Chemistry, Math and English).
4. Complete your personal information. You should enter the information exactly as it appers on your matriculation/O-level
certificate.
5. Before you Save your personal information, be sure that you have entered all information correctly. After saving the
personal information, you cannot further edit your information. If you need to edit the information, you have to register
again.
6. Once you have saved the personal information, take the printout of your application form by clicking on
“Print Application Form” button. You need Acrobat Reader installed on your computer before you can print.
7. This printed application along with attachments listed below shall be submitted to one of the Centres where you intend
to appear in the test.
8. The Entry Test Fee of Rs. 350/- should be deposited in the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore,
Account # 01280005533303,  HBL, UET Branch   Lahore using the challan form which will be printed along with the
Application. The Entry Test Fee can also   be deposited through any online branch of Habib Bank in any city of Pakistan.
Online Bank charges are Rs. 25/- only. In case of any problem, please contact Area Manager Habib Bank at 042-36826649,

PIEAS announced an important notification about the issuance of admit card to the candidates who had applied for the PIEAS writren Test. Students who have not submitted their Bank Deposit Slip should submit their Bank Deposit Slip soon, so they can get their admit card for PIEAS written Entry Test. The Official message from PIEAS admission committee is given below. Students can check their names in the lists given below.

All those candidates whose Names and Application Form Numbers are given in this list are requested to immediately respond and send us their Bank Deposit Slip if they have deposited application processing fee. The receipts can be sent by email or fax.

The Entry test Date for the UET Peshawar has been announced and test will be held on 10-7-2011  at 08:00 am.
University of Engineering Technology announce the entry test date for the undergraduate admission 2011 in the Engineering Universities. UET Peshawar entry test is required for applying in all the Government and Private Engineering Universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Applications are invited for Entrance Test for admission to B.Sc engineering, Bachelor of Computer Science & Bachelor of Architecture programmes of the University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar. The Entrance Test will be conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA),  Government  of  Khyber   Pakhtunkhwa.        Candidates  having  domicile  of   Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or FATA, seeking admission in Engineering Programmes of  UET Peshawar   on OPEN MERIT /   RESERVED QUOTAS /   NON-SUBSIDISED SCHEME   OR   RECIPROCAL BASIS must appear in the Entrance Test. Candidates seeking admission in Computer Science and Architecture may also apply for Entrance Test of ETEA.

The Entrance Test will be held at Peshawar and Abbottabad  simultaneously. Applicants who have appeared in various Boards (BISE’s) will be allocated test centers as follows:

An RFID Access Card will be issued along with Admit card by the Directorate of Admission after submission of Entry test application form

Candidates will not be allowed to the test venue without RFID Access Card and Admit Card

All candidates seeking admission in Engineering universities/ Colleges (Govt. or private Sector) located within the geographical territory of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) shall have to appear in the centralized entrance test to be conducted by ETEA on 10july 2011.

ELIGIBILITY:

The following categories of candidates are eligible to apply:

1. Candidates who have passed Intermediate (Pre-Engineering) examination from a recognized Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) in Pakistan, or an equivalent examination overseas, and have obtained at least 60% un-adjusted marks, with combination of subjects listed at serial No.3 below.

2. Candidates who have appeared in Intermediate Part-II (Pre-Engineering) examination and are awaiting their results. However, they must submit their results before the last date of submission of application form for admission.

3. Candidates with Intermediate Exam: certificates must have the following combination of subjects:

a.  For all Engineering & Non-Engg. Programmes : Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

b.  For  Computer  Systems  Engg,  Computer  Software  Engg  and  Computer  Science:  Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science.

4. Candidates who have passed three-years post-matric Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) or B-Tech exam and have obtained at least 60% unadjusted marks. These candidates are eligible for admission against their reserved seats in respective disciplines only (not for open merit seats).

There are many Entry tests which students take to seek admission in engineering colleges like NUST Entry test, GIKI Entry test, FAST Entry test, PIEAS Entry test, UET Entry test etc. In all of these Entry tests UET entry test is the easiest one, all you have to do is to follow the proper guidelines. Many of the good students cannot get good scores because they do not know how to prepare and attempt the Entry test.

Overview of the Entry Test

  • The Entry Test has a total of 100 questions divided into four portions. There are (+4) marks for correct answer and (-1) mark for wrong answer. Maximum marks as such are 400.
  • Three compulsory portions comprising of 70 questions are:
    • Mathematics (30 questions);
    • Physics (30 questions); and
    • English (10 questions).
  • The candidate will choose either Chemistry or Statistics or Computer Science for the remaining 30 questions. Kindly note that Chemistry is compulsory for candidates with Pre-engineering or DAE backgrounds. Candidates choosing Computer Science or Statistics must have the requisite subject combination in Intermediate and will only be eligible to apply in restricted programs as stated in the prospectus of Engineering Universities.
  • There are four versions of the Entry Test. All four versions have the same set of questions, however, the sequence of compulsory subjects, multiple choice options and sequence of questions in each version is different.
  • Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Statistics questions have been set from the syllabus of F.Sc (Intermediate). Efforts have been made to set the questions from those topics of F.Sc (Intermediate) that are common to ‘A’ level British System syllabus.
  • The 10 questions of English portion have 5 questions of English comprehension and 5 questions of Synonyms. In English comprehension, the candidates are given a paragraph to read and answer related questions.
  • The purpose of the Entry Test is to check the competency/ skill level attained by the candidates during the Intermediate level studies.

Important History to Know

Let me tell you something about the UET Entry test until 2007 the UET Entry test is simple and was not much conceptual, there were no dodging numerical (dodging means it is not easy to guess the right answer because they all look appropriate to be the answer and you get confuse) just the simple statements which were given in the textbooks and the good student in those times can score 350 to 380 marks while an average student can obtain 260 to 350 marks. But after 2007th Entry test this trend was totally changed and the UET Entry test become conceptual and dodging but not difficult, you can see this trend if you can access the graphs or stats of UET entry tests by Year. Now a good student can score about 250 to 350 marks and an average one can score about 200 to 320 marks. You can also see this in this graph

Steps to Prepare for the Entry Test

Now what you can do is to follow some proper guidelines to know how to prepare for your Entry test and how to attempt it properly.

  • First of all divide time for each subject, like if you have 30 days for the preparation you can give 6 days to each subject (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English).
  • Now you have to understand all the concepts which are given in your textbooks, you can do this by reading each line of textbooks and understand it, try to concentrate on the concept. If you done this you have covered 70% of your preparation. If you are not good at your memory do this step chapter wise complete one chapter and jump to the second step and after that come back to this step but keep in mind that you have to give equal time to all the chapters.
  • Do not bother about different entry test preparation books and objective type book first and do not jump directly to these books until you complete your second step once you completed the second step take some objective type book and practice the MCQs and check yourself, if you forget something you can look into your textbook. Students doing the second step chapter wise also do this step chapter wise but again keep an eye on watch and give equal time to each chapter.
  • Complete your preparation of every subject like above and in the end revise all subjects in the remaining days and keep practicing some sort of objective books. Be good and accurate at calculations.

Tips and Guideline for Entry Test Day

Now on the test day you should follow these guidelines

  • Divide time equally to attempt all the subjects. There are 30 MCQs of Physics, 30 of Chemistry, 30 of Mathematics and 10 MCQs of English. There are 4 marks of each correct MCQ and –1(negative) mark for wrong answer.
  • Concentrate on the questions and do not get confused.
  • First of all attempt those MCQs which you can fully understand and know their answers. Skip those in which you are confused and could not get to the answers.
  • Once you done all those MCQs which you fully understand, come to the pending ones and concentrate on them, attempt them carefully. You can also leave the MCQs if you want because wrong answer has negative mark.
  • In my opinion you should not leave MCQs because for example if you have 4 MCQS undone and if you attempt three of them wrong and attempt one of them correct by chance you can null the effect of those there wrong answers and if you correct two MCQs by chance you can get marks which is better than having no marks. So do this, in the situation where you think that you can correct at least one MCQ out of four.

UET Lahore Entry Test Result

The result of UET Lahore Entry Test for the admissions in the Engineering Undergraduate Progams of Engineering Universities of Punjab Province shall be declared on 15-09-2011 . The key for the Self Marking of UET Lahore Entry Test will be uploaded on the midnight of Test Date(11th September 2011). The UET combined entry test was conducted on SUNDAY, 11-09-2011 at 10.00 A.M and its result will be declared on 15th September 2011 according to the admission department of UET.

Merit Based Financial Assistance
NUST gives financial assistance to students on performance basis as mentioned below:
  • Engineering and Computer Science / Business Studies / Social &  Natural Sciences/Applied Biosciences and Architecture
    • Top 20% merit position holders in NUST Entrance test with respect to total seats in various disciplines will be awarded full waiver of tution fee for the 1st semester
  • Medical Sciences
    • Top 20% merit position holders in NUST Entrance Test with respect to total seats in MBBS and BDS programmes will be awarded full waiver of tuition fee for 1st academic year.
  • For continuation of the financial assistance in the range of 15 to 75% of the tuition fee, the student has to maintain CGPA of 3.5 or more (65% or more marks in case of medical).
Need-based Scholarship/Fee Waiver
NUST has launched a need-based scholarship scheme to enable financially under-privileged but talented students to acquire higher education. Salient features of the scheme are: 

  • Sufficient number of scholarships/fee waivers will be awarded to the needy students of the new batch every year.
  • The scholarship will be for full duration of the programme in which the student is enrolled.
Deferred Payments (Qarz-e-Hasna)
  • Financially under-privileged students, who cannot pay their fees and also do not qualify for merit-based scholarship are allowed deferred payment, on case-tocase basis on completion of 1st semester of their studies.
Other Opportunities for Financial Assistance
  • Some philanthropic organisations provide scholarships to the orphans and disabled studying at NUST. Such students will be informed on how to apply once they are selected.
