In previous years the candidate can appear in the NUST entrance test once a year only, but this year a candidate can appear in NUST Computer based entry test 2013 more than once and can apply for the admission on the basis of its best entrance test score. In this way students can improve their score and have much better chance of Admission in NUST.

The new system of UG admissions at NUST is being implemented in the year 2013. The salient features of the new system are given below:

  • The process of entrance test is delinked from admission process.
  • During an admission cycle, candidates can appear in entrance test more than once to improve their score, and apply for admission separately on the basis of best score when applications are invited tentatively in May-June.
  • Computer based entrance tests for all disciplines will be held in multiple sessions at NUST Campus Islamabad according to the following schedule:
  • First Session (NET 1)       –    April-May
  • Second Session (NET 2) –    June-July
    • Paper based entrance test will be conducted in Karachi and Quetta only once in July.
    • For June-July session, candidates will have an option either to appear in Paper Based Test at Karachi and Quetta or Computer Based Test at Islamabad.
    • For computer-based NET, candidates can choose the date and session of test depending on availability of space.
    • Candidates who have cleared FSc (Part-I) or O level exam with minimum 60 % marks (or equivalent) are eligible to apply. For detailed criteria for eligibility please visit Undergraduate Admission section.
    • General Awareness portion in the NET has been replaced with Intelligence test questions having same weighting. i.e. 5%
  • Processing fee for entrance test and admission will be charged separately according to following structure:
  • For NUST Enrance Test

  • Admission Processing Fee (per programme) – Rs.1000/- or USD 12/-
  • For SAT Candidates

NUST Admission Procedure 2013 Overview

To apply for the admissions 2013 in NUST students first have to appear in Entry test conducted by NUST called NUST Entry test (NET) 2013. In 2013 the admission application process and Entrance Test is separated, now in 2013 students can appear in NUST Computer based entry test more than once if he/she wanted to improve their Entry test score. Then after having their entry test result they can apply for admission online in April and May (exact dates will be announced soon) on the basis of their best score which they want. Then after the deadline NUST will prepare the merit of the applied candidates and announce the merit list of the selected candidates. Through all these phases we will help you and provide tentative information.

NUST Online Admission Registration Procedure 2013

After the announcement of all NUST Entry test results students will apply for admission in NUST on the basis of their NET Result. The admission procedure is as follows:

  1. You will apply for admission from on this link (link will be available soon) by filling up the form for admission using NET (NUST Entrance Test) registration number.
  2. Candidate will use the User Name and Password already issued for NET.
  3. Admission application form will only be available to those candidates who have taken NET earlier.
  4. Basic candidate data given in NET form will be automatically picked by Admission application. The same will not be editable.
  5. Best NET Score of the candidate in relevant discipline will automatically be picked up by the system for merit generation.
  6. Candidates can apply for admission in all undergraduate programmes on the basis of NET according to eligibility criteria.
  7. Then Candidates can enter their preference of choices after knowing their merit positions once for all. No application for change of preferences will be entertained thereafter.
  8. Closing merit of session 2012 for different programmes will be available on the website for guidance.
  9. Candidates can Re-Login to their respective account and print the Fee invoice for depositing of processing fee from My Account page.
  10. Candidates can deposit the fee with any branch of HBL or Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. Fee submission will be confirmed through e-mail within 10 days.

Minimum of 60% marks each in Matric and FSc or equivalent exams (premedical group). Matric / O level / Equivalent qualification (Science Group) and FSc / A level / equivalent qualification (Pre-Medical Group) with minimum 60% marks.

Eligibility criteria for applying in Business Studies / Social Sciences

A minimum of 60% marks each in Matric and Intermediate or equivalent exam. Matric / O level / Equivalent qualification and FA / FSc / A level / equivalent qualification with minimum 60% marks.

Eligibility criteria for applying in BS Mathematics

A minimum of 60% marks each in Matric / O level / Equivalent qualification, and intermediate or an equivalent qualification including mathematics with minimum 60% marks.

International Students

NUST has some SAT specific seats in undergraduate programmes for international candidates. Desirous candidates can avail the facility accordingly, provided they meet the specified eligibility criteria and are willing to pay tuition fee and allied charges of the category.
Merit list of international students is prepared separately.
Cases of the international students, finally selected for admission, will be referred to Higher Education Commission and relevant government department(s) for final approval as per policy in vogue.
Hostel accommodation to international students is guaranteed.

Candidates with any of the following deficiencies are NOT eligible to apply for admission in UG programmes:
  • Having secured less than 60% marks in Matric and FA / FSc.
  • Having failed / not appeared in any subject in FA / FSc Part-I / II.
  • Having secured less than 60% marks in O/A level as per the equivalence certificate issued by IBCC.
  • In case of O & A level / equivalent foreign qualification, those not in possession of valid O level or equivalent qualification certificate issued by IBCC at the time of applying to NUST.
  • Female candidates are not eligible to apply for Aerospace, Avionics and Civil Engineering at Risalpur campuses.

Medical Fitness
Selected candidates will be required to provide Medical Certificate for joining the relevant programme. Medical Certificate Form will be emailed / sent to the selected candidates along with the Provisional Selection Letter for endorsement from any government hospital or a registered medical practitioner.
Rejection of Application
The University may reject any application for admission without assigning any reason.

NUST  Scholarships/Financial Assistance

15% of top merit position holders in NUST entry test with respect to total seats in respective disciplines will be awarded waiver of tuition fee for the 1st semester (6 months) except in Medical sciences where these will be awarded waiver of tuition fee for 1st academic year on joining the discipline.

All those students who continue to show good academic performance and maintain a GPA of 3.5 and above out of 4.0 (in case of all UG programmes except Medical Sciences) and 70% and above (in case of Medical) will continue to get financial assistance in each semester/academic year within the range of 15-75% of tuition fee.

NUST Entry Test Sample Papers, Computer Based/Paper Based

Every year NUST offers admissions to the Undergraduate students of Pakistan in different Bachelor Programs on the basis of NUST Entry Test (NET). NUST Entry Test are taken in two following types:

  • Computer based NUST Entry Test
  • Paper based NUST Entry Test

Here we are providing students with the sample papers of Computer Based NUST Entry Test and Paper Based NUST Entry Test. In Computer based test the candidate perform the test electronically on computer while in paper based test the candidate perform the test in conventional written form. Candidates will have an option to appear either in computer based test at Islamabad OR the paper based test at Karachi, Quetta and Multan.

NUST Entry test of all bachelor disciplines except Bachelor of Architecture composed of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). There are total of 200 MCQs in NUST Entry Test. The standard of NUST Entry test is that of intermediate level education, aimed at evaluation of factual knowledge, comprehension and its application. General Awareness portion covering Pakistan Studies, International Affairs and General Knowledge having 5% weighting has been replaced now by Intelligence type questions in NET.

All of those candidates of Engineering / BS Math who have deposited admission processing fee but for any reason have not been able to download Admit Cards should contact Admissions Director latest by 3:00 pm on 18 July 2012 for inclusion of their names for last session of entry test on 19 July 2012.

  • On the web-link www.ugadmission.nust.edu.pk, the candidate will be allotted a password to access the application form, after providing valid e-mail address.
  • Recent photograph of candidate is required to be uploaded with the application form.
  • Candidates can apply for admission to all undergraduate programmes on the basis of NUST Entrance Test or SAT Score or both, according to eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates should enter the relevant programmes according to their preference. Request for change of preference will not be accepted at a later stage.
  • Candidates applying on SAT basis have to enter their SAT Subject test scores at link availabale on My Account page after submission of application form. Those who will not enter their SAT scores by due date will be assigned zero weightage.
  • Candidates can deposit the fee either through credit card or make an online deposit, in any branch of HBL, after taking printout of the Challan Form.
  • Information regarding Admit Card containing exact time and centre for NUST Entrance Test will be notified to the eligible candidates through e-mail.

Admit Cards will be retained at the test centre for further verification.

Candidates submitting A Level, 12th Grade, International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement certificates are also required to submit equivalence certificates, obtained from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). Offices of the IBCC are located in all the provincial capitals. The address of IBCC office at Islamabad is as under:

However, such candidates are required to submit their Detailed Marks Certificates/Grade sheets/Equivalence Certificate within 15 days of declaration of final result by the respective Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.Only the results of the final examination will be accepted in case of fresh intermediate candidates. Supplementary cases may apply during the next academic session.

NUST Entrance Test (NET)

Paper-based written entrance test of the following subjects will be held for:
a. Engineering and Computer Science programmes:

c. Business Studies and Social Sciences:

The test will be based on intermediate level education, and is intended to evaluate factual knowledge, comprehension and its application.

Rechecking of NET Papers

Rechecking of Entrance Test papers (only MCQs) may be requested in writing within 15 days of the declaration of result, along with a fee of Rs 500/- in the form of a bank draft/pay order in favour of NUST.

Provision of Entrance Test Results

Desirous candidates may obtain the result of their test, on written request, along with a fee of Rs 200/- per copy in the form of a bank draft/pay order in favour of NUST.
