Every year NUST (National University of Science and Technology) offer admissions in Undergraduate Programs The Admissions 2012 in NUST will start in the end of March 2012. The admission procedure for NUST is online so online registration for NUST admissions 2012 will start from 15th April 2012.

Important Notice (17 July 2012)
All of those candidates of Engineering / BS Math who have deposited admission processing fee but for any reason have not been able to download Admit Cards should contact Admissions Director latest by 3:00 pm on 18 July 2012 for inclusion of their names for last session of entry test on 19 July 2012.

“For admission in UG programmes, prospective candidates must be in possession of either Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or Form’ B’ without which the application for registration will not be accepted.”

The admissions in NUST 2012 will be offered to the students on the basis of NUST Entry Test 2012. Notice 13th April 2012

The Entrance test will be conducted at the following places:

• Computer Based Test
  • Islamabad (Sector H-12, NUST Campus) (in multiple sessions)

• Paper Based Test
  • Karachi, Quetta and Multan (in one session)

Candidates have an option to appear in either the computer based test at Islamabad or paper based test at Karachi, Quetta and Multan. In case of computer based test, candidates will be required to select the date and session of test after confirmation of deposit of application processing fee through email from NUST. They will be accommodated on the day and session of choice on first come first served basis.

 Eligibility Criteria

Engineering

FSc (Pre-engineering) from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education or an equivalent qualification like Overseas High School Certificate/British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level)/International Baccalaureate/Advanced Placement with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. All non-FSc stream candidates to obtain equivalence certificates from IBCC to apply for the programmes.

FSc / equivalent with a combination of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Studies or Computer Science for admission in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering & Telecommunication Engineering only.

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc/ equivalent exams. No deviation in this regard is allowed.

BS Computer Science

FSc / equivalent with a combination of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Computer Studies/Science

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc/ equivalent exams. No deviation in this regard is allowed.

Medicine & Bio-sciences

FSc (Pre-medical) from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education or an equivalent qualification like Overseas High School Certificate/British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level)/International Baccalaureate/Advanced Placement with Biology, Chemistry and Physics as approved by PM&DC. Any other combination will not be accepted. All non-FSc stream candidates to obtain equivalence certificates from IBCC to apply for the programmes.

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc or equivalent exams. No deviation in this regard is allowed.

Marital status for AM College: Unmarried

BS Computer Science

FSc / equivalent with a combination of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Computer Studies/Science

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc/ equivalent exams. No deviation in this regard is allowed.

Natural Sciences (BS Mathematics)

FSc (Pre-engineering) or an equivalent qualification like Overseas High School Certificate/British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level)/International Baccalaureate/Advance Placement with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer Studies/Computer Science.

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc/ equivalent exams.

B Architecture

FSc/Equivalent qualification with a combination of Mathematics and Physics.

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc (with Physics and Mathematics)

Business Studies / Social Sciences

Intermediate or an equivalent qualification like Overseas High School Certificate/British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level)/International Baccalaureate/ Advance Placement. All non-FA/FSc stream candidates to obtain equivalence certificates from IBCC to apply for the programmes.

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and Intermediate/equivalent exams. No deviation in this regard is allowed.

Note: a. Candidates of FA/FSc stream can apply for NUST Entrance Test on the basis of FA/FSc Part-I but confirmation of their admission is subject to provision of FA/FSc certificate or Detailed Marks Certificate (with minimum of 60% aggregate marks) before the commencement of relevent programme of study. b. Candidates of O/A Level stream can apply on the basis of O Level equivalence certificate, duly obtained from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) office but confirmation of their admission is subject to provision of A Level equivalence certificate (with minimum 60% marks).

• On the web-link www.ugadmission.nust.edu.pk, the candidate will be allotted a password to access the application form, after providing valid e-mail address.
• Recent photograph of candidate is required to be uploaded with the application form.
• Candidates can apply for admission to all undergraduate programmes on the basis of NUST Entrance Test or SAT Score or both, according to eligibility criteria.
• Candidates should enter the relevant programmes according to their preference. Request for change of preference will not be accepted at a later stage.
• Candidates applying on SAT basis have to enter their SAT Subject test scores at link availabale on My Account page after submission of application form. Those who will not enter their SAT scores by due date will be assigned zero weightage.
• Candidates can deposit the fee either through credit card or make an online deposit, in any branch of HBL, after taking printout of the Challan Form.
• Information regarding Admit Card containing exact time and centre for NUST Entrance Test will be notified to the eligible candidates through e-mail.

Admit Cards will be retained at the test centre for further verification.

Note: Candidates are advised to avoid misrepresentation of facts which may lead to cancellation of their candidature at any stage.

Equivalence Certificate

Candidates submitting A Level, 12th Grade, International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement certificates are also required to submit equivalence certificates, obtained from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). Offices of the IBCC are located in all the provincial capitals. The address of IBCC office at Islamabad is as under:

Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in any of the above prerequisite examinations during the current year, can also apply. However, such candidates are required to submit their Detailed Marks Certificates/Grade sheets/Equivalence Certificate within 15 days of declaration of final result by the respective Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.Only the results of the final examination will be accepted in case of fresh intermediate candidates. Supplementary cases may apply during the next academic session.

• Candidates applying on SAT-basis must enter their scores at the link available on My Account page after submission of application form. Those who do not enter the SAT scores by due date will be assigned zero weightage.
• Candidates can deposit the fee either through credit card or make an online deposit, in any branch of HBL, after taking printout of the Challan Form.
• Information regarding Admit Card containing exact time and centre for NUST Entrance Test will be notified to the eligible candidates through e-mail.

NUST Entrance Test (NET)

Paper-based written entrance test of the following subjects will be held for:

a. Engineering and Computer Science programmes: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science/Computer Studies and English b. Medical and Applied Biosciences programmes: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English c. Business Studies and Social Sciences: Quantitative, Verbal and Intelligence d. B Architecture Cognitive and Aptitude, Mathematics, Physics, English Comprehension e. BS Mathematics Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/Computer Science, English

The test will be based on intermediate level education, and is intended to evaluate factual knowledge, comprehension and its application.

The weightage of subjects for preparation of merit list is as under:

a. Engineering and Computer Science Mathematics 40% Physics 30% Chemistry or Computer Science 15% English 15% b. Medicine and Applied Biosciences Biology 40% Chemistry 30% Physics 15% English 15% c. Business Studies / Social Sciences Quantitative 40% Verbal 40% Intelligence 20% d. B Architecture Cognitive and Aptitude 35% Mathematics 20% Physics 15% English Comprehension 15% e. BS Mathematics Mathematics 40% Physics 30% Chemistry/Computer Science 15% English 15%

Note: There will be an interview for Applied Biosciences,  Business Studies / Social Sciences and B Architecture. It is mandatory to qualify the interview for final selection by attaining minimum 50% marks.

Rechecking of NET Papers

Rechecking of Entrance Test papers (only MCQs) may be requested in writing within 15 days of the declaration of result, along with a fee of Rs 500/- in the form of a bank draft/pay order in favour of NUST.

Provision of Entrance Test Results

Desirous candidates may obtain the result of their test, on written request, along with a fee of Rs 200/- per copy in the form of a bank draft/pay order in favour of NUST.
